It comes as no surprise that Junya Watanbe is one of the most sought after designers these past couple of years. Having trained under one of the most talented mentors Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garcons as a pattern maker; we are absolutely crushing over every piece currently released for Fall 2015.
Born in Fukushima, Japan in 1961; avant-garde is an understatement as to what Junya’s stylistic creations are all about. Having started work with Rei fresh out of fashion school in 1984 and started his own label in 1992, Junya has from the start wowed us with collections of perfection and “non-fashion” creations to say the least. With collections that link the past with the present and a forecast of the future; we cannot wait to see what this creative artist has in store for us next.
For Fall 2015, it is safe to say that this collection is not for the fashion conservatives. Be prepared to turn heads, wow some and possibly shock others; with the main idea behind the collection being “dimensionality through clothing”; a place where “mathematics and nature meet to create a collection of mastered art.” – vogue.com
With black and white being the main colour palette; it comes as no surprise that I am absolutely LOVING every single piece.
